Hello, everyone, again. Well, this has been a long time in the making. I have been following Julia on YouTube for a very long time. I love her work so much; it's just so neat and perfect and gorgeous! And one day I hope to be half as good as her (haha)!

I have always heard Julia mention her blog Cookie Connection, but never thought anything else of it. "Yeah, I'll check it out one day," I'd think to myself . . . and well that "one day" is now, well tonight . . . way past midnight on a very windy and probably the coldest night of winter yet so far this year.

I live in the country of NSW Australia, where I love it. It's a small town of about 400 ppl, where everybody knows everyone, and you can tell who is visiting you or just going past your place by the sound of their car or ute, lol and that's the truth.  We've been here about 14 years now. I am a mum of 4 with my youngest still living at home. She finished school last year and is working.

I am a cake decorator working from home, fully registered and legal with my local shire. I just feel the last few years I'm really wanting to do more on the biscuit/cookie side of things (cupcakes don't interest me). I'm thinking and hoping it will be a lot easier on me and my back and neck in the long run, than say decorating a tiered wedding cake (lol) and all it entails.

If you made it to the end of this novel (lol), I do know I'm looking forward to being a part of this community for sure!

Cheers for now and time for bed, haha!

Roz.

Hi, Roz! I'm so glad you finally made the jump from YouTube to Cookie Connection! This site has a blog, but as you discovered, it has way more than that - forums, a clip (photo/video) posting area, surveys, live chats, etc. etc. I do hope you enjoy it here, and have a chance to explore all of these areas soon!

Thank you too for the very lovely words about my work - you made my day!

Hi Roz, it's so nice to have you with us. There are some incredibly talented people on this site, it can be overwhelming. Don't be afraid to ask questions, everyone is so helpful! I look forward to seeing what you come up with!

Hi Roz I am from down under too NSW/VIC border. I have baked all my life but never done the decorating cookie thing. I am in awe of these artists on here and think it is so wonderful to be able to make friends and be inspired by like minded people.

Hello, nice to meet you... hehehe
I am nearly 3 hours from Albury/Wodonga.
I know what you mean about being inspired by everyone here,
I am a bit of a beginner with royal iced biscuits (cookies), (sorry everyone i'm still getting used to calling them cookies) but i'm getting there lol

just think... once you start, you will be hooked

cheers for now

Hi Roz,

Welcome to Cookie Connection . You are so right about the many incredibly talented cookiers on this site!! Julia's work is magnificent and her tutorials (as you've already discovered) are so well done with detailed explanations for every step in each tutorial. I think we've all learned a great deal from watching them.  Thank you Julia!!

As a cake decorator I think you'll find the transition to decorating cookies (biscuits) to be not too difficult as you no doubt have a lot of artistic talent since you decorate wedding cakes. The key to beginning to decorate cookies is learning about the various consistencies of royal icing. Learning (lots of practice) about which of those consistencies work best to achieve the results in your artwork that you want to achieve is very important when starting out. Just my 2 cents...lol.

As already mentioned, this site is information-rich . And there's constantly something new being added to enhance cookiers' knowledge and skills. A real treasure trove!

Enjoy and always feel free to ask questions. Once again, welcome
