Hi, all! There will be a brief hiatus in chats in December, seeing as most of us are likely to be distracted by the holidays. But, come the new year, we'll be chatting again in full force with the launch of our CookieCon 2019 Speakers Series, dedicated to conversations with the event's featured presenters! It was just yesterday (almost literally) that we concluded the 2018 series. Because CookieCon changed to an annual schedule, now each spring, we're experiencing nearly back-to-back CookieCons in this transition year. The next one is March 20-23, 2019 in Reno, Nevada, and you can read all about it here.

During the lead up to the event (and probably following it), I'll be interviewing all of the 2019 presenters pictured here, excluding me, of course!

In January, we're kicking off the 2019 series with the very talented Cynthia Raven, owner of SugarChat Cookie Studio in Lee's Summit, Missouri. In addition to winning at the CookieCon Sugar Show in 2017, Cynthia was one of the cookiers selected to create the special CookieCon calendar last year. She is also frequently my right-hand woman at cookie events (so frequently, in fact, that she's often mistaken for me!), and my very dear friend.

In her chat on January 12 (10 am central), we'll be learning how Cynthia balances cookies with a full-time job, how to set up a winning cookie class, what she's planning to teach at CookieCon, and more! In the meantime, please get to know Cynthia by checking out her bio and social media links below.

Also, to access Cynthia's chat room (which is now open to receive questions in advance), just click here. As always, we like to get as many questions as possible in advance so we can cover more ground in the live chat.

IMG_0681Cynthia Raven (aka @SugarChat) is a lifelong home baker with a special affinity for cookie decorating for the past few years. She uses and experiments with a wide variety of sugar mediums including royal icing, SugarVeil®, airbrushing, painting, and more.

After winning a minor art contest as a young adult, Cynthia studied art in college before ultimately switching her degree to human resource management. She has since worked in human resources for over 20 years and is currently Vice President of Human Resources with a Kansas City-based technology company. Cynthia has a Bachelor of Arts degree in human relations, and a Master of Science degree in adult and continuing education.

Cynthia decided to merge her love of training and development with her passion for decorating cookies, and SugarChat Cookie Studio is the sweet result. She regularly teaches cookie decorating in both large and small groups, individual and private classes, and corporate team-building sessions.

She continues to participate in a variety of sugar art events, including instructing, judging, competing, and demonstrating decorating products and tools.

Cynthia's zeal for decorating and delight in teaching have helped many to achieve their own cookie decorating goals, including new small businesses. She continues to create, experiment, and learn, and is thrilled to share all of that cookie knowledge with anyone who is interested!

Cynthia can be found online on Facebook, Instagram, and her website.
