Hi, all! A reminder and an announcement, all at once!

First, don't forget: We've got another sure-to-be-inspiring live chat coming up in August with none other than Cookie Connection's Get Insprired with Dolce Sentire contributor, Aixa Zunino. You can find the essential time and date in the image below. Her bio can be found by clicking on the "i" icon at the top of her chat room, which, BTW, is now open to receive your advance quesions. So jump on over there, and start peppering her with all of those questions you've been dying to ask! (Of course, you can also submit your questions live on the day of the chat, but getting your questions in early allows our guests to field more questions on the day of the chat.)

Second, we've got a new chat, coming up in no time flat on September 3, 2016 at 11 am CDT (9 am PDT) with Mike Tamplin of SemiSweet Designs! Mike's chat is of our Sweet Sharing variety, hosted by Tina at Sugar Wishes, which means that it's a topic-centered chat rather than our usual free-for-all. Mike's topic is how to approach character designs on cookies, meaning your own cartoon-y characters, not copyrighted matter (which often requires permissions and licensing fees to reproduce). Here's just one set of Mike's many charming ones that feature cartoon-y characters . . .

Trick or Treat

Pretty cute, eh? Rest assured, this is just the tip of Mike's cute-ness iceberg!

Mike's chat room will be set up by the end of this week (provided no acts of nature interfere), so in the meantime, here's a brief intro to help you get to know Mike even better.

MikeCropped

Mike's hobby of making cookies developed into a passion practically overnight. He first entered the world of cookie decorating in November 2011 when looking for a gift idea for a friend who had everything. This friend was a lover of cookies, so Mike Googled a few online cookie decorating tutorials and decided to give decorating a shot. It turned out to be a lot of fun, therapeutic even, so, very quickly, this one-time kitchen craft became a non-stop hobby that was consuming all of Mike's free time. When he's not in his southern California kitchen covered in royal icing, he works full time as an aerospace engineer. By day, he's a hard-working, cubicle-dwelling number cruncher, and by night, he's a dough-mixing, cookie-icing blogger. Within the last year, Mike has expanded his blog, SemiSweet Designs, into a shop for unique cookie cutters. He now focuses on creating new cookie cutter designs while sharing tutorials about how to decorate them.

That's it for now! I am really looking forward to both of these chats myself, and hope to see many of you there! (One last note: Our Sweet Sharing chats are now only running one hour instead of two, so all the more reason to get there on time, or to log your questions early.)

** UPDATE **

@Mike @ SemiSweet's chat room is now open to receive your advance questions; just click here and see the basic deets below. Also, please note that, with this chat, we're moving to a shorter one-hour format for all Sweet Sharing chats, so best arrive at the top of the hour to avoid missing any of Mike's hot tips!
