Hi, cookie experts! I am VERY new to this, but have 2 orders in already! (Just for friends' parties, but still...). 

One of them wants monogrammed cookies for her daughter's birthday. First design, no problem (round cookies, wet on wet, blue with white dots). I'm planning to do royal icing transfers for the monogram. 

Second one - problem!! She wants "quilted" hearts, with the monogram. I can do the quilting, but unsure about how to do the monogram. Still with RI transfer and "glue" on after the base is dry with more RI? Something else? Here is the example. (Xxcuse the messy work - only one I had a picture of and, remember, I'm new.  

Any ideas would be so greatly appreciated!

If it was me I would do the whole cookie in fondant.  You can get a quilt mat to imprint the fondant.  I would use fondant to do the monogram.  Wilton does a small alphabet cutter.  Good luck!

Using fondant ist definitely  an option, BUT: do you like the taste? Does your friend? Especially in such a large amount on a small cookie? I personally find the taste of fondant grosse - and most people I know agree with me.

I would therefore chose one of the following options:

- make the quilting with icing and only the monogram with fondant. The letters are not that prone to breaking and still you have mainly the taste of RI

- make the quilting only on the outer side and leave a round or whatever shape in the middle for even flooding. You can easily apply the letters there

- make the monogram on a round (or whatever shaped) transfer. This can be applied to a quilted surface without problems

I agree with Leagwen.....I would flood a circle or oval in the center for the monogram and quilt the remaining surface and then maybe use a stencil for the monogram  (either icing or spray color )....good luck with your project, hope we get to see the finished result ��

I have never tried Satin Ice fondant, I only know Wilton, Masa Ticino, Callebaut, a few no-name brands and home-made, and they don't really differ that much. But if I stumble across SI, I will give it a try! Their gumpaste at least is good and my favorite (though not in taste, I have never eaten it ).

VERY good ideas...ideas I wish I had when I had a client that wanted this a couple of years ago.

So...I finished the cookies! Took some advice from here and flooded the centre, then I stencilled the monogram. Final group of cookies is below The customers were very happy!! Thanks again, fellow cookie enthusiasts! 12976811_10156725757095335_3517600159297925064_o
