Hi, a few people have asked me why they aren't receiving email notifications when people comment on their clips (photos). If this is the case, here's what to do . . . but first, a clarification:
Email notifications are different than alerts. If you are looking for notifications of comments under "Alerts", you will not find them there no matter what. Right now, the only things that flow into "Alerts" are likes on content. I have suggested to my site hosts that they consider incorporating comments into that area, but they have not acted on that site enhancement - yet!
However, notifications of comments can be set up to flow to your email. To do this:
- Go to "Manage" in the main navigation line, then: "Your Account" --> "Personal Settings".
- Under "Personal Settings", you will see three boxes toward the bottom of the page that control when you receive email notifications about content you post or have commented on. (See first screen shot below.)
- Just tick off the options you would like to have and then save those settings.
- Also, go to "Manage" --> "Your Account" --> "Notifications" and make sure you have selected the box (under "Specific Followed Content") to get email notifcations about any content (yours or others') that you have selected to follow. (See second screen shot below.) As an aside: To follow someone else's clip or piece of content, just click the "Follow" icon in the blue box to the right of the clip.
- If after you've done all of this, you are still not receiving email notifications, then check your email spam box, and make sure your email client is not filtering messages from this site into your spam folder.
- If you have trouble after that, please send me screen shots of how your "Personal Settings" and "Notifications" have been set up, as well as a URL for which you are not receiving comments. (My email: sweetlife@juliausher.com)
- This all said, I believe you will find all is working properly if you set your "Personal Settings" and "Notifications" as suggested, as the system is working fine for me with the settings shown below, and there has been no reported trouble from anyone who has followed these steps.
