February 2018

Hi! So I picked up a second-hand set of cookie-cutters from a neighbour, and there is one I absolutely cannot figure out. The cutter were all very ordinary, mostly Christmas-themed, but with a few random shapes (a fish, a mushroom, a moon...) thrown in. Have any of you any idea of what this thing is supposed to be? The lady tried to convince me it was a bunny but I'm not sold. I kind of see a weasel dancing on its hind legs (upper left view)... Any ideas welcome, thanks!Read More...

Say Hello to Our March Site Artist

Julia M. Usher
Well, you won't have to shout very far to say "hi", because, this month, that site artist is none other than me! I think you all know me pretty well by now, so I won't insert any bio or other intro material here as I usually do. If you happen to be interested in the extended version of how I got started in baking and decorating, you can read all of those sweet (and sometimes sordid) details on my personal website . Oh, here's what my March cookie contribution looked like in photo form before...Read More...

A Ton of Extra Cookies?

Kirsten
I am new to this whole cookie decorating thing but I LOVE it! t is so much fun BUT it requires a lot of practice and I have so much fun doing it that I don't want to stop . . . so my question is what do you all do with all of these cookies!? I think my family is pretty much sick of eating sugar cookies, and the employees that work for us will get sick at some point too I think. I just want to keep baking so I was wondering if any of you had some suggestions on what to do with all of the...Read More...

Quick & Easy Rectangle Cookies

GeminiRJ
I recently needed to make some rectangle cookies but I did not have the correct size of cutter. I also did not want to hand cut them! So I had an "ah ha" moment that is very obvious and one that most of you probably already figured out. But I decided to post it just in case. I needed to make 1.5" x 2.5" cookies that I would then ice and place a chocolate plaque on top. I made a 1.5" x 11" template (I recycle the plastic fronts of my husband's holiday booze sets for templates...they work...Read More...
