Though this time, in keeping with the current season, I'm featuring a far more spring-y selection from Timea - these lovely lavender and pink flower-filled hearts . . . Hi, all! First, huge thanks to Cookie Connection members @mintlemonade (cookie crumbs) and @Ryoko ~Cookie Ave.! THANK YOU, LADIES! Now, everyone will find links to the Japanese translations at the top of each of those pages (links above), and also directly below: Terms of Use...Read More...

Hi, all, I've been receiving an unusually large number of questions about how members can edit or delete their own content. It's super important for you to know how to do this, as I typically do not edit posts for people, unless I happen to see a misclassified image or other typo. It can also take me several hours to days to respond to site inquiries like this, as I work several other jobs. That being said, your surest bet for getting a quick answer is to familiarize yourself with our site...Read More...

Hi, all, regrettably, I've recently had to delete some images from challenges and other areas of the site due to lack of compliance with Rule #8 of our posting guidelines, which states that artwork (including characters, from Disney, Hasbro, etc.) cannot be copied and posted here without permission from the creator : http://cookieconnection.juliau...READ-BEFORE-YOU-POST In response to those deletions, some members have asked me why so many licensed character cookies exist on the site,...Read More...

We all have different message-reading tastes, so Cookie Connection has been designed to allow for everyone's individual differences! The site's default email and onsite alert notifications are set to show you most of the site info that you could get notified about, just so you're aware of the site's full functionality. But I recognize that this amount of info may (or may not) be overkill for you. That said, I recommend that you edit your "Notifications" settings as soon as you join the site...Read More...

Raw Cookies

MFP Treats
I have just begun my cookier career. I made a few dozen cookies, decorated and sold them. I have been running into a problem with my sugar cookies these past 3 weeks. I will have one batch come out beautiful, not burned, not raw but just right ( the perfect light shade, plump full look). The next batch of cookies will look raw/buttery at the bottom. Anything I cook after that comes out the same. Once I set the baking sheet on the cooling rack I can see the middle begin the get dark spots,...Read More...

Hi, everyone! The JULIA Airbrush System sold more quickly than ever anticipated and, as some of you may know, is now stocked out. Thank you to everyone who supported the product through their purchases. I am so grateful to you! Several people have asked when it will be available again, and, instead of responding to each and every one of you separately, here's the official answer for all. I regret to say that I have no plans to release any more of this particular system . It’s a long story,...Read More...

Say Hello to Our May Site Artist!

Julia M. Usher
Hi! Yes, that site artist is me once again, so we'll skip the usual artist intro and move onto more important matters - like how to get your art featured instead of mine! I'd really, truly love to have more submissions from all of you. One reason is selfish: I'm bored with seeing my cookies. Typically, I've looked at them for countless hours before posting them here, and enough is enough! But the primary reasons are for you. Featured cookiers get noticed by other members, potential...Read More...

Domino Confectioners Sugar Issue or Not?

Holly Stefaniak
In full disclosure, I am new to the cookie world... I began baking and decorating just a few months back, and maybe it was beginner's luck, because I've had zero issues- until now! I'll spare you all of the royal icing drama of the past 48-hrs, and the only thing that I can find that is different, and may potentially be causing my icing to fail (repeatedly) is the bag of sugar being slightly different... I'm reaching, I know, LOL! I only use Domino brand, and the 2lb bags always said, "10-X...Read More...

Customers Opening Heat-Sealed Bags

I apologize in advance if this had already been addressed and I overlooked it. Has anyone had any feedback from customers regarding ease of opening cookies in heat sealed bags? I fear it may be a bit difficult, such as needing to cut open, and not as easy as the peel and stick bags. Thank you for any feedback.Read More...

3-D Physical Mock Ups

Cookies Fantastique by Carol
I'm finding it more and more important to make physical mock-ups of 3-D cookie art. What is the best way (materials, etc.) to create a mock-up of a 3-D piece? I'm not great with Photoshop or Illustration programs on the computer and have also found myself to be better at visualizing something I can "hold in my hand". Drawing on paper gives a flat dimension which is great for practicing airbrushing designs with accents (appliques, fondant molds, etc.). However, it's very difficult to see...Read More...

Ingredients- Food Safety Concern

Hello- I was wondering if it was safe to BAKE a cookie/baked good with milk, sour cream, or cream cheese in the recipe and safely store it a room temperature for days, after baked? I was wondering if anyone knew the official science behind this question? Due to food laws of hazardous foods, I didn’t want any potential customers getting sick. Also, is there a specific amount that may be used in product, such as under a 1/2 of cream cheese, etc? Thank you for the help!Read More...

Retail Shelf Life of Cookies

Moondance Cookies
Question: If you do NOT use preservatives in your sugar cookies, what do you tell people is their shelf-life? I recently started selling my cookies at a cakery; all are individually heat-sealed in cello. I do not use preservatives; I've always told people that my cookies are best eaten within three weeks of purchase. I have had friends admit that they waited three months to eat them; they claimed the cookies still tasted great, their only complaint is that the cookies were rock-hard at that...Read More...

Shortening Question

Can anyone recommended a specific shortening brand for my sugar cookies? I am looking for a professional brand that will hold up if frozen. I was using a brand and after I froze it the frozen cookie dough smelled fishy after a while (a month and a half in freezer). This freezer is dedicated to my cookies and sweets only, so other food is not stored in this freezer. Also, my freezer is fairly new. Any suggestions would be great! Thank you! Looking for a great brand that make my cookies taste ...Read More...

Cottage Food Operations and Meringue Powder

Forum: Legalese
Hi! I am hoping/trying to set up a Cottage Food Operation (CFO) in California for my cookies. I thought I had everything lined up, and have just been told that California doesn't allow meringue powder (or similar) in icing. I have truly cried, it makes me so sad! And I have heard this is not unique to California. It makes absolutely no sense to me that it is allowed in a professional kitchen and not in a home kitchen. Professional kitchen rental is just too expensive for a startup...Read More...

Looking for Foolproof Bakery Cookie Recipes

Hello - I’m trying to find outstanding cookie recipes found in bakeries to make for my cookie treats. I would like the confidence of having standardized recipes so that I know it will 100-percent turn out when baked and bake properly. If any of our cookietiers could assist me in this dilemma, I would really appreciate it! Thanks.Read More...

Overlapping Design

Mignon
I need some help in determining what the best method would be to decorate cookies for a local hospice where I volunteer. I want to recreate there logo which is a pair of overlapping hands in a heart shape. I am attaching their logo for reference. I'm not sure what approach to take for the best results. Do I do a wet on wet for the overlapping "fingers"? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.Read More...
