Cleaning brushes after using highlighter dust

Forgive me if this has already been asked, but I did not find anything when I searched for it. Does anyone have advice on how to completely remove highlighter dust, and luster dust from their brushes, after painting with them? I've tried soap and water, vodka, etc, and always have sparkly residue that seeps into the next color I'm using. This is especially frustrating when the next color is not intended to be shiny! Thanks!
