Using Multiple Colorings in Same Stencil

Hi there! I notice a lot of your stenciled cookies are multi-colored. For example, with the December stencil, the girl with the umbrella is two different colors but it is one stencil. I have created something like this in the past however, I have had to tape off the part I don't use and am just wondering if there is a product or better way that you would recommend. Tape works, it just is tricky removing it and re-tape because I do not want to rip the stencil. Any information is greatly appreciated!
