Ooo thanks for asking! It's so simple - crumple up some plastic wrap, wrap in a paper towel, and dab it into icing and then on to the cookie. The little paper towels I keep around while I work (regular paper towel cut into 4 pieces) are just the right size with a little ball of crumpled saran inside. Dab into icing, dab onto paper to remove excess, then dab on dry, iced cookie. Once it dried, I went over the whole thing with Canary Luster Dust to add that lemon shine. Sadly, I cannot remember where I found this online tip as I was just randomly tooling around.
Because the towels alone would quickly moosh flat and the texture effect would be lost. The loosely balled up plastic inside prevents the towels from wadding together, and allows the pattern of the towel to be imprinted on the cookie over and over again, as much or as little as desired. Must be done with a very light hand.
Thank you! But no fondant - just my regular sugar cookie with icing - dried, then textured with the same color.Originally Posted by ClassicCookies by Parr:
Is this just fondant or is there a thin cookie under that beautifully textured lemon icing?
