Tina...I am so flattered you would say that about my cookies. You've been very supportive of me and my work...that is all that counts to me. I know who I am as a cookier and I know I put my best work out there for this competition.

Thank you again Joanna for your love and support I am pretty active on this site, but I have a business and 2 young kids...so I can't be in the top ten rankings. I hope it is more than just based on that...to be fair for all those who entered.

I know! This has happened a couple of times during the contest...that a cookie with lots more likes and comments is still lower in the "hottest" list. I hope that the tech guys review the algorithm a bit after this contest. I think it has to do with the "site ranking" that the posters have. I read that if you are a higher ranked site user (ie. your ranking numbers is lower) your comments and likes carry more weight and influence on the site. It seems like maybe that is over compensating a bit?

Anyway...these sure are cute cookies! Good luck!
Hi, rest assured, everyone! The algorithm has been tested and re-tested by many people, including myself, and IT IS working properly. What's happened here is that this cookie simply did not have as much activity on it this week (the period over which the finalists are determined) as did another.
I am also not sure where you read that ranking on the site has anything to do with the trending algorithm, as I have never posted this anywhere and it is not true. I would appreciate you sharing a link to this information with me so I can correct any misinformation that may be floating around out there. Thanks.

One additional comment here: Please remember that you are posting in a public forum. All of the cookies that have reached finalist stage are fabulous, and are here based on how you, members, responded to them this week. Disparaging comments about others' work are not welcome on this site.
Hi, Julia...I don't think there were any disparaging comments made...just compliments to these cookies and confusion about how they could be trending so low with so much activity.
The information about Community Ranking states:
Community Rank
Your community rank reflects your overall contributions to, and influence within, the community. The lower the number, the better!
There did seem to be a LOT of activity on this entry in the past week...I think that's what was so confusing for everyone.

Perhaps someone had the good sense to delete his/her remark. I'll just reiterate for everyone's benefit that comments about the relative quality of people's cookies (that some are better or worse or are not deserving to be on the calendar) are not welcome on the site.
This information about Community Rank only explains how your community rank (the number next to your name in your profile) is determined. See clip below. All this says is that my rank is number 1 because I have commented and posted in certain areas more than anyone else on the site. The Community Rank does not give anyone more weight in the trending rankings, i.e., if I were to like a photo, that does not give that like any more weighting than anyone else's. Community Rank has nothing to do with the trending on any photo or content on the site; it's completely unrelated to this contest.
