This is beautiful. I noticed on your logo the picture of a rocking horse. Is this something you made from gingerbread, and if so, could you please post a picture. I want to make a rocking horse and have no clue where to start. The picture or a tutorial would be very helpful. Thank you.
Gosh! Thank you all! This style was something I've wanted to try for awhile. I'm so pleased with your comments.
Carol53, yes it is a gingerbread rocking horse. I made the pattern a few years ago and have made 4 in different styles. I kind of think of it as my signature piece, hence my cookie name, lol. If you have Facebook, please visit my page, Rocking Horse Sugar Decor and you can find an album of the 4 horses. If you don't use Facebook, let me know and I can send pictures. I've posted and shared so much I'm afraid people are tired of them.
I looked at your rocking horses. They are truly a work of art. What is the height of them? Also, how did you make your patterns, did you draw them free-hand or did you buy an actual pattern for wood working and reduce it? A rocking horse is definitely on my agenda, along with a few dozen other things, lol. Thank you for your help.
Carol53, they stand about 16" tall and the rockers are approx 19" long. Since the full rocker pieces won't fit on a half-sheet pan, they are made in halves. I use computer drafting software in my regular job so I draw all my patterns on the computer.
I think this cookie is more beautiful every time I look at it. Do you have any tips for getting smooth icing on such a large cookie? I'm trying to cover a large cookie right now, but parts of it are starting to crust before I can blend it all. Any ideas would be so helpful!
That's a tough one PipingHot. I don't have any tips other than to work quick and maybe make your flood icing a little thinner (looser). Thank you for the nice comment.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try thinning down my icing.
Love the roosters. Cock-a-doodle-doo!!! Great colors, and such crisp detail in the design.
PipingHot, Julia has a video on making large eyelet lace cookies that gives a suggestion. Basically, keep moving back along each wet edge before it can set. For example, if you were flooding a big round pizza, do one slice, then the next, then go back to the other side of the first slice and go the other way. Basically, by alternating back and forth, each edge only needs to stay loose for the time it takes to pipe one 'slice'. Hope that helps you, as it did me.
