For years, I have made cookies for functions connected to Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. They have always been New York focused with some type of message of hope. Since we no longer live in NY, I had to switch things up. And, just like the year so far, it was a very rocky start. My first idea was to use Julia’s peace stencil on a royal icing transfer to attach to a TBD background. Once I had made 175 of the stenciled transfers, I decided they needed something. I piped a border around each of them and THEN decided the border looked terrible. I scratched that idea and decided to direct stencil some form of messaging. But I couldn’t find my Hope stencil. When I finally did, I discovered it was too large to use with anything else. I noticed Julia’s Dream stencil and decided to incorporate that. It seemed a bit too stark with just Dream however so I added the rest. So, in summary…I made Peace 175 times. Then I lost Hope. Discovered that too much Hope can be a bad thing. I decided to just Dream. Then I figured it was just as important to Believe. I realize this is symbolic of the current state of things but, in fact, I’m still talking about the cookie. I’m slowly getting better at airbrushing but know I have a long, long way to go. I do believe I will improve – I’m hoping it’s not just a dream.

You are so amazing, dear Lisa! You made me 😩😱🤯😂😂 go through all these feelings!! You forgot to mention perseverance, my friend! That is the word that best describes you.
In the midst of so much uncertainty these are the two words we must pursue, Dream and Believe. May I add in God, who is in control in spite of everything. Thank you for sharing your experience and growing talent!!♥️

Thank you for your kindness my friend. I actually only made 150 cookies. I make extra transfers because the odds of mishaps and breakage are pretty high for me! Big hugs right back at you..😘
