I absolutely loved this tree design by Hani using 3 simple cookie cutters that can be found at Hobby Lobby. Here's the link to her tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54qUE8ZZ7fA.

Thanks so much Evelin! I sometimes wonder if something is "too" original...at least that's what I was thinking when I dreamed up this design. Lol.
(A.M.A.) Carol you've made me mad Rrrrrrrr... there's no such thing as "too" original that's what I like about you you always put a little Twist in your cookies to make them you okay I'm not really mad just a little crazy

Wow! I hope Hani see's this. Fantastic Carol. Did you melt candy in the center of the heart? Very, very lovely. Great design. Pip
Oh thank you so much!!! You're always so sweet . I thought about sending her both of the hearts that I made using the same cutters that she had used for her white Christmas tree. I did melt candy in the center. Halfway through the baking, before turning the baking sheet, I placed some fine granules of mashed up candy into the center. It melted perfectly. Now if I can get the crackle effect figured out I'd love to try to make some designs on those cookies. Do you have a technique for obtaining the crackle effect that works well for you? I'd love to know what it is if you do . Hugs ♥♥

So that's the secret, putting the crushed candy on the cookie 1/2 way through baking. No wonder mine always turned out brown and bubbled over....
The "crackle effect"? In the royal icing or the candy window? I haven't yet tried the 'distressed' cookie surface with the white food gel though I've lots of ideas. Do you crackle the 'stained glass'? Me

The crackle effect I'm talking about is the one with the distressed look on the cookie. I've tried a couple of different methods and neither has given me very good results. They just don't "crack" like so many other cookies I've seen. I've tried the white gel color mixed with some cornstarch that turns it into a paste that you paint on the cookie before baking. Looked terrible. Tried the method that Dolce Sentire explained in one of her tutorials here and that didn't work for me either. I must be doing something wrong...either the wrong consistency, not brushing it on correctly or something. Have you tried this before and had success?
