And here is my second entry to the challenge! These cookies (6 cm x 9 cm (i.e. ca. 2,4 x 3,5 in)) were flooded in white royal icing, to which I added a tablespoon of golden syrup because I had no corn syrup and no possibility to buy any. I tried it out as an experience, and it actually worked quite well : the icing took an eternity to dry out (was still soft to the nail and slighly tacky after 24h!), but once it was dry, did offer a great surface for painting, smooth and much less prone to pitting than regular RI. This allowed me to try some watercolor effects, and to layer colors over each other. After the fifth layer (!), it did start to get porous, but what could you expect!
I chose to paint sky-scapes as capturing light in paint (and on a cookie) seemed like an interesting challenge - results are far from perfect, but as someone with no formal training in art and no experience of painting in any medium, I am rather happy with the outcome.
These are really beautiful. I really like the rich colors. But my very favorite part of this entry is how you took a risk and added the golden syrup to your icing, and were able to paint in a way that you otherwise could not. Well done!
