Dear Fabulous Bakers, as a young person, I am hoping to encourage ALL to use anything but single-use plastic ANYTHING . . . for decorating, mostly. I've had great success with canvas piping bags as well as standard parchment DIY bags. As you are making the world sweeter, one cookie at a time, please make it healthier as well by eliminating any single-use plastic from your regimen. I know we can do this, and it is the right thing to do for our world. With respect, Boule

Hi, booton, Congrats on making your first post. I look forward to many more to come!
Hear, hear! I couldn't agree more - I only use parchment cones and reusable bags, mostly for this reason!
I must admit I have moved to single use plastic piping bags. My issue was that we had a severe drought (we are keeping fingers crossed for good winter rains starting soon) and were limited to 50 liters of water per person per day for all water needs. Washing out and rinsing piping bags to a standard that I am confident that they are clean enough for another use takes a lot of water. We were at a real risk of having the water shut off. I found myself between a rock and a hard place. I chose plastic single use in an attempt to make my contribution to try and keep the loo flushing and the washing machine going (I did not want to go back to hand washing clothes, even though I did get a hand 'washing machine'). We gave up a lot of comfort things, but those two comforts I would have missed the most.
It is hard to know what to do sometimes and to figure out which resource should get priority.
Good point, @Liesbet. I hope the drought corrects itself soon.
