Some bittersweet news!
First, the sweet: we've got a new site contributor - Rebecca Litterell - who will be joining us as "business correspondent" with an inaugural live chat on October 11. (Yeah, she was our mystery guest! ) She'll then be writing on a monthly basis about the trials and triumphs of moving into a brick-and-mortar bakery. While she'll be chronicling her journey in a diary of sorts, she'll also be soliciting feedback from the seasoned veterans among us about how to tackle various challenges along the way. Should be lots of fun - I can't wait, and am very excited to have Rebecca join the team!
Here's a bit more about Rebecca, for those of you who don't already know her fabulous work, and her new column . . .
Rebecca Litterell is owner of Litterelly Delicious Cakery and author of the Cookie Connection blog feature Storefront Diaries, where she takes you along her journey of opening up a brick-and-mortar business after years of baking out of her home. Rebecca started decorating cakes for family and friends in 2006 and eventually incorporated cookies into the mix in 2011. She is completely self-taught and passionate about teaching her skill and know-how to others, both online and in the cake and cookie classes that she hosts at her local community college. Before cakes and cookies, Rebecca spent most of her career in the medical field. She is a mother of three and a wife, and loves living in the country. When she’s not in the kitchen, she’s riding her horses.
Welcome, Rebecca! Stay tuned for Rebecca's first post - we expect it later this month or in November. In the meantime, don't forget to learn more about her (and fellow contributor Rebecca Weld) in the October 11 chat.
Now, for the not-so-sweet news (for Cookie Connection anyway): Aymee VanDyke, our previous business correspondent, will not be able to return this fall to Cookie Connection as hoped. I am ever so thankful for her previous contributions to the site (see her From Dough to Dollars column) and wish her the very best in her new pursuits!
