Thanks, GeminiRJ. I spent about 45 minutes to 1 hour on each of the needlepoint panels on the box in the foreground. So it was a little bit of work for that pattern. The stenciled boxes go much faster!

Gigi - I miter the corners by beveling the two joining edges at 45-degree angles using a microplaner or file. This brings the cookies closer together at the corners and usually doesn't require such a heavy seam there to cover any icing "glue." That said, I ACTUALLY have some pretty heavy borders on these corners to cover unevenness at the edge of the needlepoint piping. If I hadn't needle-pointed the tops, I wouldn't have needed such a big seam.
