Why Compete (in Julia M. Usher’s Cookie Art Competition™) with Heather Brookshire of The Cake Whisperer

Still on the fence about competing in the 2024 Julia M. Usher’s Cookie Art Competition™? Well, this video by Heather Brookshire (aka The Cake Whisperer) is sure to knock you off it. She takes you on her journey from her first entry in 2006 to her recent personal best at SoFlo Cake & Candy Expo. Along the way, you’ll hear how she overcame her first-time competition fears and see the entry that earned her second place in the Advanced/Master 2-D Cookie category of my 2023 cookie art competition.

More About Heather: Like Susie Jacobs (who spoke with us about two weeks ago), Heather is a serial competitor who clearly appreciates the benefits of stretching herself through competition. And, also like Susie, Heather has proved quite successful over time in large part because of her “just do it”-attitude that comes unfettered with concerns about winning or losing. As long as she learns and grows through entering, she comes out a better decorator for having gone through the process.

Please listen to what Heather has to say, and you're bound to be inspired to enter! 😀 (And don't forget: In addition to the learning that comes from competing, you have a chance to win part of the competition's record-breaking prizes - $25,500 in total value!)

To register and read all of the 2024 competition rules, please visit the Competition Overview blog post on this site. Entries aren't due until June 30, 2024, so you have plenty of time to create! However, I love early registrations, even before entries are complete, as getting an advance read on the number of entries helps me with planning the rest of the competition! TIA!

The judges and I can't wait to see your creations. Just email me (sweetlife@juliausher.com) if you have any questions after reading the Competition Overview.
