This was my entry for the Julia Usher 2D Cookie Contest, theme essential. After a year and a half it was essential for us to drive from Northern California to Indiana to see my father who was suddenly terminally ill (not a covid thing). We drove across the county in our minivan because the kids were not of vaccination age and stayed at camp sites along the way. I took pictures of our journey, manipulated them with a comic book filter and hand painted them on royal icing cookies. The lack of color was intentional to show the impact of the journey and the layout was in a comic book format. This was my first time hand painting a cookie in this manner.
