Embossed Cats
My husband, who was born on New Year’s Day, asked for his favourite cookies (Honeycat Cookies' recipe) for his birthday. To my eternal disappointment he prefers his baked goods WITHOUT icing, so I made good use of my new embossed rolling pin.

It was my first time embossing so I don't think I pressed hard enough and it's a light coloured cookie too so the pattern doesn't stand out much. Must try it with gingerbread and/or black velvet cookies!

hahahahaaa   leelowe      i too appreciate a dry cookie        but i do like a delicious homemade cake type icing          but rarely on a cookie      we were brought up on stella d'oro   biscottis   lol   any type biscotti    and pizzelles    (sp)      i remember makign these with my grandmom/mom     my mom passed before i was one

anyway      im with him     on dry cookie ooky   lol

i had a big smile when i saw your  pic      ive been tempted to do the same    but  nawwwwwwwww    i just have to be like these other tremendous cookiers     welll    try to be like them       ahem     choking    hahahahahaaa

I've hurt my right shoulder so I've been looking for easy decorating ideas.  If you take the same cookie and do the impression on fondant it would be adorable.  If you use satin ice fondant they have a version that tastes like buttercream.  I'm not a fan of fondant or frosting, but this stuff is delicious.  If you are a painter you could even paint the cats.  Sorry for changing your cookie, but I enjoy trying new angles.

I have always been fond of icing. When I was a child my mother would waitress at wedding receptions and if there was leftover wedding cake she would sneak me some home. I absolutely loved the fondant!

I want to be like these other tremendous cookiers too! But just this once I gave into my husband's preference for no icing

It would work great on fondant. I have thought about that. We have a brand in Australia called Bakels that is really delicious. I think it tastes a lot like Marshmallow Fondant. I often think Australian fondant must be really different to what's sold in the US because I've never met anyone here who thought it tasted bad. Of course my husband finds it too sweet so I'll have to wait till I'm making cookies for other people

I absolutely love these kitties!! What did you use for embossing? A stencil? Just curious as they turned out so well

An embossed rolling pin that I bought on Etsy. As a cat lover I couldn't resist it
