The Story
This one has an interesting story! I have this thing about 4 seasons in my head for a long time, I just love the 4 seasons and how the Mother Earth changes during those, but some things are always there. I wanted to do something like that but I was afraid it is too early for me. I've been decorating cookies for less than an year and I was concerned I won't manage to do something good enough. I had the greatest inspiration of them all - Julia Usher and her astonishing 3D creations! I know that mine can not be that perfect but when I found out about the challenge I thought I should give it a try no matter what!!!

The Idea
So I ordered the cheapest of the stencils sets and I thought they will never come on time all the way from China, but surprisingly they arrived in less that 3 weeks. I didn't have an idea what I will do with them that's for sure! When they arrived I had to sleep over a few summer hot nights until it finally striked me...And the idea was born! I will have my 4 seasons onto this 3D cookie jar I will make for a present and I will fill it with cookies as well. So I will use the 'meant to be something else shapes' for my 3D project...'It was meant to be done then', I said to myself and got started...

The Process
This is my first time using stencils, so please, do not be harsh on me! And of course I had to do some myself. I decided I will use a chocolate transfer sheet for that purpose. I will use the transfered chocolate onto the cookies I will fill in the jar with. Finally the stencils were ready, but what a baking madness was ahead I had the littliest of idea I baked 3 or 4 batches, can't remember. I finally got 4 decent pieces I can use. Unfortunately I made a mistake to put them all together piling up and they curved during the night. With such a huge project and 2 small kids, it is impossible to do everything as quick as I wish! I didn't have time to bake another batch so I continued.

I don't have an airbrush and I wanted to try one of those sprays so I bought one. When I got it I realized I can not use it, because I didn't pay attention it is not a colour one but only a shimmer So that technique drop off. I also made a different stencil for the clouds from a plastic piece from my daughter's hair pins But then I changed my mind, I wanted them to be smaller. Then I discovered I can use the middle part of that stencil which I used for the leafs. I had to do leafs stencilling one by one, which took some time I used one of the feathers stencils for the grass and the other feather stencil for the bark of the trees. The RI stencilling of the bark also took some time, because I had to do in 4 or 5 different stages and wait for them to get dry so that I can continue...I didn't wait for to long, because I didn't want them to be that perfect, it is bark after all! And considering the fact I had to do them multiplied by 4 and another 4, because I made a prototype so that I can practice on before since I wasn't sure of the result. But I am not going to show you this, no way

I used dry luster dust stencilling with sponge for the clouds, part of the leafs, apples and the sun, I changed the colour of the sun depending on the season. I used wet brush stencilling for the grass, the leafs and the trees. The bark and the grass I RI stencilled. The white birds are RI stencilled transfer. My additional is fondant for the leafs and the apples.

The Recap
Stencilling is great! Super fun and time saver. And you should led your imagination go...

Gosh, this became a novel, I am sorry! I hope I do not bore those who dare to read all this! DSC03808FourSeasonsDSC03873Stencils4Seasons

Ohhhhh, I just realized I made a huge mistake calculating the deadline hour and the timezone differences...Oh my, so much hard work and just couple of minutes late...well, what can I do..It was fun though. Good luck everyone!

No way, something must be wrong, it is better to ask what is going on.  This one is very unique, so different from others, I like this should be in PBPC.

Thanks for the shout-out! Your 3-D creation looks great! And I especially appreciate your detailed explanation of the stenciling process.

No, you didn't make a mistake. You posted it two hours ago and the challenge only closed an hour ago. So it was in on time by an hour.

Zara, I am really happy you could make this entry.  We have been talking about this challenge for a long time, I am actually happier to see yours than when I had entered mine.

Thank you, Julia! I checked in two different sites and it showed two different time zone differences. It is really confusing! But now I know for good! Sorry for all that hustle, if I could I would have been posting this earlier...(sorry if my English grammar is not ok)

Oh thank you, Ryoko! You are so kind, like always! And thanks again for those wonderful words about my cookies! You are a true friend! xx

Nice project and idea Zara. It is amazing where the challenge may bring our imagination. Now you can fill it with cookies with different shapes in theme with the season: leaves, flowers, snowflakes and something for the summer.

Exactly, that's what I am going to do! Thank you, Manu!

I loved the detailed explanation (story) of the emerging design for your creation. (I tend to be wordy and loved reading about your process to achieve this result.) It's beautifully done and I love your ingenuity of creating cookies for the different seasons. Love it
