This challenge was inspired by Angela Nino (@The Painted Box) and her amazing use of wafer paper. I met her at CookieCon and was immediately taken by her use of wafer paper which I had never seen before. I made it a goal last year to try to incorporate her flower techniques in my designs and as I have followed her on Instagram also fell in love with how she uses it for so many different things. I bought the wafer paper and looked at it for months, I made a couple of flowers, but didn’t do anything with them. So I was really excited for this challenge to actually challenge myself to make a flower for a cookie and to also use the wafer paper in other unique ways. I got this idea for a sort of Cinderella inspired New Years and made my dress fit for a New Years ball using layers of wafer paper which I airbrushed gold, wafer sprinkles on the mini rounds, the band on the hat and then of course the flower. It’s defin something I look forward to incorporating into my future designs.
There is so much about Angela Niño's work that is inspiring to me too! I made a Niño-inspired wafer paper flower set myself last year! I love how you used the flower technique that you learned and turned it into a skirt. This is a great New Year's set! Well done!
