The community center very shyly asked me if I could make cookies for their Thanksgiving food distribution today. I found out the shyness was because they distribute 250 meals for Thanksgiving – not the usual 150. And distributing on Wednesday instead of Friday cut two days off my routine. I did the best I could to rise to the occasion. The cookie cutter is a seashell. The turkey body is a royal icing transfer. The feathers are a bit all over the place and the turkey looks a bit traumatized – but, in truth, it tends to be a good day for everyone but the turkey.
So, I donate these cookies fairly anonymously. The executive director and some board members know who I am but since I don’t sell them or have a related business, I’m just a woman who decorates cookies. My husband delivers the cookies each week so I don’t even meet the recipients or distributors. He swaps full containers for empty containers and, when I went to pack the turkey cookies I found a note. I’m sharing it because I think it applies to each and every one of us. You too are appreciated even if you do not always hear it. Sometimes we get so focused on what we do or don’t like about a design and/or execution that the beauty of a tasty cookie is overlooked. (I am guilty of doing this all the time!) But it is a reminder as we go into this holiday season when so many cookies are gifted and given that they really do provide joy.
In honor of Thanksgiving, I wanted to thank all of you for all you have given me. Every day you inspire, amaze, educate, challenge and encourage. I am so incredibly grateful to have you in my life.
Lisa, 250 turkeys two days earlier than usual???? WOW, you are definitely Wonder Woman! They are beautiful and so sweet. Dear Lisa, you are such a wonderful inspiration to us all. I’m very happy to know that that Thank You note got to you in your anonymous position ♥️ We are definitely so thankful for knowing you and all the love you pour out so generously. God bless you ♥️

Thank you for your kindness Heather. I'm not going to lie though - it was A LOT! I wasn't 100% I was going to get it done on time. There was definitely some whooping and hollering when I finished the last one!❤️😘
How adorable Lisa @LisaF! The idea of using transfers for the turkeys is perfect for the large orders you consistently do. Your recipients must be thrilled beyond words!! I sure would be . Perfect for Thanksgiving my dear friend!! I hope your Thanksgiving is filled with so much thankfulness (in spite of how challenging this year has been). I've met so many "new" cookie friends this year for which I am beyond thankful...YOU, my dear, are definitely one of these cherished friends. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving ❤️❤️ Hugs...
