This was a project that I've thought about doing after I saw the Pretty Witty Cakes tutorial about piping a dome. I finally decided to just "go for it" to see if I could actually do it . Voila!!  After making the large dome I wanted to have a set that made sense so I also made 2 butterfly "catcher nets" along with some other butterfly cookies.  Dome and butterfliesFull Set

All in all it was a lot of fun to challenge myself with learning a new technique

Here's the link from Pretty Witty Cakes on how to pipe the RI dome:

Haven't tried domes myself yet, but I am in love with them. And the fact that you added a butterfly here just makes this beautiful! Especially the way you took the photo of it <3

Thanks so much!!

Thank you, Carol, I just went to see Pretty Witty Cakes tutorial.  Very interesting.   I like your cookie very much, lighting is wonderful, very cool.

Thanks Ryoko!! I'm so glad you like it.  The set was a lot of fun to make.  The butterfly catcher nets were made on the back of a tablespoon

This is such an awesome picture, Carol! Love that dome and how the butterfly is illuminated. Wonderful cookie!

Thank you so very much Sonja!!! I kind of wonder if most people haven't looked further to see the whole set?? Anyway, I'm just so glad that you like this technique and the lighting . Definitely different for me!

Been reading quite a bit about lighting (not my strength that's for sure!). Your cookies are always so beautifully photographed. Any tips you can pass along?

I Can hear your frustration, Carol, but don't be disheartened! It's not your cookies or your pics, but just that CookieConnection has been slower than usual. At least that's how I feel it. Not as many member visits that could give likes... The views seem to come mostly from guests.

Anyway, if you'd like to get more visibility for your work, consider putting your pics on Instagram. It will be much more rewarding than Facebook.

As to taking pics, I am still struggling with this myself. But I think that natural light and a light background helps them to stand out more. Hugs!!! ❤️❤️❤️

Wonderful comments Sonja!! I can't thank you enough . I will try Instagram and see what I can about posting there. Looked at it a couple of times but didn't take the plunge.

I think you're right about natural light . I took some pics of other cookies yesterday and then re-shot them today. I didn't like how the pics turned out  and today used natural light as much as possible! I also tried various backgrounds with some lighter and still need to play around with that. Lol. It's a work in progress ♥♥. Hugs!!

Yes, the whole set is great, Carol! As for the photos - like everybody else I recommend the day light. I took my pics on the balcony with a white plastic table cover as a backdrop (they are much cheaper than the real backdrops and I found myself a very nice looking one in one of the local DIY chain shops, I have to get some more one day, some new designs, colors.) Everytime I can I take the pics outside. And then I use one of those online programs for photo editing, I never skip on that. I use a very old camera and my pics are ok after all those steps above. And I am easy with the set up, because I don't like too much stuff around the cookies, because sometimes they can distract the attention from the real object of the pic

You are so right Zara!! I kind of have a hard time getting too far away from the props I like to use with my photos and probably need to make the photography cleaner looking. With my latest cookie I photographed it in natural light only and liked the results so much more!! I also did some post work with cropping, etc.

I really appreciate your great tips!! Thanks so much for taking the time to let me know the tricks you use...it's a huge help

Oh no prob, Carol! It's not much, it's just what I do and my personal preferences. I also need to learn so much.
