This was my contribution to the Cirque des Gateaux collaboration celebrating 36 years of Cirque du Soleil. I chose the production "Kooza" as my inspiration. All hand cut, hand painted cookies with painted wafer paper to represent the quick-change costume techniques.  The black & white costume rips off the Trickster as he jumps out of the box revealing his blue striped suit. The Trickster transforms the Innocent's drab, black & white world into one of color and adventure. I tried to capture that first moment they meet. I chose to keep the wafer paper kite drab to show the moment in between change. The Innocent cookie could be removed from his base to make the piece interactive and fun.  I represented the circular stage present in the show with a painted fondant covered base. https://www.facebook.com/CirquedesGateaux/

Beautiful, Kristi! I watched the video of this moment on YouTube  https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=autUhA9XFkQ and I think you really caught the moment.

Congrats for making into ACD!

Thank you! I adore the story of the Trickster & Innocent.
