Love how you can see the flowers behind the letters! What's the trick to doing that without all the colors on the flowers running when the wet icing goes on top?
Thank you! I let the painted cookie dry then use a silk screen stencil for the word “Mom” then pipe an outline around the letters. The silk screened icing yields a transparent coat when applied over a painted background.
Graphic Art by Nina of Shop Never Mind as inspiration for painted flowers on cookie. Cookie inspiration from Brenda Hoye. Box, stencil and technique my own.

So beautiful!! I, too, love how you can see the flowers underneath the wet orange icing. Great technique as you've described below. What kind of silk screen stencil did you use? I'd love to try that sometime...the result is really beautiful @Lynda!
@Cookies Fantastique thank you for your kind comments! I made the stencil ☺️ I tried piping the letters originally, but no matter how I did, I wasn’t happy with the result. Because I often make stencils to personalize cookies, I thought I’d try it with this. It took several tries to get the stencil to fit on the baked and iced cookie but I was happy with this result.
