For these companion cookies to mom's birthday "puzzle" I wanted to emphasize texture and simplicity in the designs. After stenciling the "90" cookie I used a clean toothbrush to get the brushed effect while the stencil was still on the cookie. For the "Ninety" cookie, I didn't evenly swipe over the stencil but roughly swiped to create more dimension and depth.
I wasn't happy with the "Happy Birthday" cookie. The idea of starting with a rough layer of thicker RI on the left side and then flooding the right half appeared unbalanced. On paper, the florals piped onto the left side achieved the balance I was going for. In retrospect, I think it would have looked better (maybe) to have the entire left side roughly swiped with RI without adding the white flood border. Then, the florals on the edge might have provided the balance I wanted. (Not sure if I'm making sense.)
What mattered most was that mom enjoyed every last cookie ❤️.
They are absolutely gorgeous!! You did such a wonderful job, and of course, we always think we could have done it differently. But I assure you they are amazing. Most importantly, your dear Mum loved them♥️
