One last version of my 3D cookie tree (I promise!) although not exactly what I had in mind. I didn’t have enough isomalt to fill all the circle cookies so I experimented with a well known brand of gummy bears melted in few drops of water. There are some bubbles and the panes are not as trasparent as isomalt, but I like this outcome, especially the night version.

The structure is not flooded so I poured a little amount of isomalt between each cookie rings, the space beneath each royal icing bow. This made the structure sturdier.

I then painted all the cookie rings (the whole structure) with white food coloring before decorating them with royal icing wreaths. The panes are not sticky and the cookie really smells amazing. Honestly I don’t like the texture of cookies and gelatin mixed together and I wouldn’t eat white food color. So, even if totally edible, this cookie is mainly a decorative centerpiece.

This 3-D Christmas tree is fabulous idea!  With the windowpane effect, this has a luminescent glow  in the evening photo! ( gummy bears, melted).

In reading the tags, I’m wondering, for each in the paper doily, is it one cookie or more?  What is a “ cookie ring” ? Will the tutorial, ( video) answer this?

Hi, Anne @Annesweets. Thank you! This is the third version of this tree (included the one featured in the tutorial).

I am sorry for my English. A cookie ring is a cookie shaped like a ring ⭕️.

The basic structure is the same for all the three versions: 10 stacked cookie rings. In the first version the structure is flooded on both sides, in the second only on the back side and in the third one it is not flooded at all.

After cutting the cookie dough, I arranged the rings to form a tree, moved them close together, and made sure that each ring touched the rings next to it. Once in the oven, the cookies should fuse together to become a single cookie structure. Actually in this 3rd structure I used some toothpicks to keep the rings even more closer while baking in the oven. I then removed the toothpicks once the structure was cooling down.

Hi, Heather @Heather Bruce Sosa! I am so happy to hear that! Remember to use very thick consistency royal icing (Julia’s glue), to prop it, and to avoid moving the tree until the icing at the base is completely dry, the longer the better! (I would get creative and find a way to prop it also during transportation to your brother though).

The grey tree with hearts has been on display in my living room as a decoration for two months now! It still smells good and it is still in one piece. No good to eat of course, but the cookies I make for the tutorials are never going to be eaten (as they get manipulated too much to take pictures at every single step).

Merry Christmas to you and to your family!❤️🎄🎁
