So apparently I'm on a roll with this painted cookie stuff, and am submitting a third (and last) entry to the challenge! And then it's back to regular royal icing work, which I enjoy more.
The cookies were, like my previous entry, flooded with royal icing added with golden syrup, and were very easy to paint on - the golden syrup gives a noticeable yellowish tinge to the icing, but it looked fine according to me. Everything is painted with Wilton food color gels and 42° vodka, including the outlines - no edible pen was used! I then piped the word "Merci" (i.e. thank you) with the same icing, and painted it with edible gold dust (local french brand) mixed with very high-proof vodka (95°, Spirytus). The larger cookie is about 3,5 in (9 cm), the smaller ones maybe 2,7 in (7 cm)(not entirely sure).
I am satisfied with my fish (they really look realistic) ; the chinchilla (Woody by his name) is a little clumsier, but still cute I hope.

I swear by Spirytus for mixing with metallics! I do get a little side-eye from the clerk at the cash register when I buy it, though!
Congratulations on making a THIRD challenge entry! I think these are really beautiful. You have such a delicate touch with a paintbrush! All of those fine lines, from the fins on the fish to the fur of the chinchilla are impressive. Do you know what type and size paint brush you used?

Thank you so much! I used two watercolor paintbrushes by the brand Raphaël, size 3/0 and 6/0 (synthetic fibers ; model 8504) ; colors were Wilton, except for the black which is PME.
