My entry for this fondant challenge uses at least 2 fondant techniques per cookie.
The dress on the left is covered with sculpted fondant in the bodice and skirt. The bodice is embossed and sculpted, with an added molded snowflake.
The ring cookie in the middle is made using extruded and molded fondant. The extruded line of fondant was then glued to the cookie with edible glue, and painted silver. Molded snowflakes are in place of the jewel. (I've often heard of diamonds referred to as "ice," so I used snowflakes to represent that "ice.")
The dress on the right has embossed (twice), and molded fondant. I first embossed the fondant, glued it to the cookie, then used a #3 tip to add a smaller imprint into each pattern. I then molded some tiny snowflakes and glued them to the waistline.
I've continued the fondant coverage over the edges of the two dress cookies to help them appear less 2D. They still are 2D, technically speaking, but I wanted to see if covering the edges is better for photography--making the cookies look like an actual dress. I think it does help, particularly for the appearance of movement of the flowing skirt of the dress on the left.
I've attached a few more pictures for different views of the cookies: as close ups and to show that the edges are fully covered, except for the ring cookie.
If a dress cookie was for a client's order as a showpiece for a set, I would experiment with continued fondant design and coverage over the back of the flat cookie and stood it up. This might be a less expensive option for a client than a full-on 3D dress cookie (and all of those challenges that we, the bakers, are presented with).
Gorgeous! The movement you created in the long dress is beautiful. Loved the ring and the short dress too. Congratulations Bev on an outstanding work!♥️
I love how much thought went into the design of this set! The embossed textures coordinate perfectly with the theme. The dresses even look as though they are covered with a blanket of shimmery snow. The folds in the "fabric" of the first dress are very convincing. Everything is so well done. Did you face any challenges?

Thank you! The hardest challenge for me was finishing the tops of the dresses - at the very top, as if looking into the dress. I wanted it to be a more realistic appearance, but I couldn't think of how to achieve the actual inside of a dress. In hindsight, I could have dusted or airbrushed a little gray for shadowing.

Sometimes, we need to try things to better understand what needs to be done (hence the "Practice" in Practice Bakes Perfect ). Your dresses look stunning. I think any client would be thrilled with your cookie designs.
A very successful set !!I think the first dress is particularly beautiful.I like the way you thought about how you can best present something! So beautiful dear @BevH❤️
