What an emotional couple of weeks this has been for all of us.! I have had a personal layer of emotion because last week my father died. He lived and will be buried in another state but I am the closest to him – my sisters are not even in the same time zone – so I am taking care of the last phase of things. There have been a number of days occupied with car travel, Covid related hurdles as well as the logistics associated with the end of a life. It’s been a lot! Cookie decorating has been such a tonic and way for me to decompress at the end of the day. Although the 150 due last week and this has been a challenge in itself in terms of quantity. Nonetheless, I chose a symbol of peace to honor my father. He was a decorated veteran and it feels appropriate. That is my private intent but for the food distribution it serves as a symbol of unity, without which we will never have peace. Enough of all that. My Mom used to joke when we asked what our Dad wanted as a gift for various celebrations. She would say, “All he wants is peace and quiet. He’ll settle for quiet.” He usually got a tie. And cookies.
I hope this isn't too inappropriate but I wanted to share a bit more about who he was.

Oh, goodness, Lisa. I am so so sorry for your loss. Your dad sounds like a wonderful man, and the obituary is so personal and written with such love. May you find peace and healing in your loving memories of him. 😘
Dearest Lisa, this giveaway is the most moving and emotional you have presented. Thank you so much for sharing your -hurting- heart with us all. You are so inspiring. You had a great Dad and he had a great daughter. Your cookies are the most gorgeous way of honouring him.
God bless you and flood you with his peace. Huge hug, dear friend ♥️
Wow, Lisa! What An amazing tribute to your father! Prayers for comfort, and thankful for his service. I’m certain you will miss him dearly and hopeful you feel the virtual hugs and support!

Thank you Julia. This site actually played a wonderful role this past year. My father had dementia and was in an Assisted Living family. It went into lockdown once the pandemic started. We were restricted to visits where we stood outside and talked to him through a window every two weeks. It was such a confusing time for him (and us!) and we usually ran out of things to say or ways to explain the current situation. When the conversation lagged, I would bring out my phone and show him pictures from Cookie Connection. I would bookmark all of these gorgeous works of art and tell him “That’s a cookie!” He loved it. I even brought a couple PBP creations to show him. It provided a much needed respite for him, so thank you so much for the platform. ❤️

Thank you for your kindness dear Heather. Decorating these cookies gave me a chance to reflect, which was nice. Despite my struggles with the stenciling, I kept my swearing to a minimum, which would have greatly pleased my father. He was not a fan of my periodic potty mouth. 😘😝🙏🏻

Oh, gosh, what a trying time. My Dad died of complications from Alzheimer's 10 or more years ago, and it was confusing enough to manage his situation (for him and us) while everyone was at home, or closer to home and able to visit. I can only imagine the stress of your situation, but I am so glad Cookie Connection brought some relief. XOXO

Big hugs to you my lovely friend!!! 🤗🤗🤗
Thank you dear Gabi for all of your kindness. I was happy with how they turned out. It was actually my first time using a stencil with icing application instead of airbrush. I didn't think about it before I planned the cookie and as I got started I realized I had thought about it often but never actually done it. It turned out to be a soothing process, which was nice. ❤️😘

I like the double shape of the pigeon.Outside the seated dove and the stencil as a flying dove. Very great Lisa!! @LisaF
Oh dear Lisa...I am in tears as I read your post and the lovely obituary about your precious dad. Thank you for sharing this private glimpse into the man who had so much influence in your life. Clearly, his love of flying, giving to his country and even the love of corny jokes had a huge impact on your life and giving spirit (well, I don't know about whether or not you like corny jokes but I sure do. LOL).
These cookies are gorgeous and a perfect tribute to a man who obviously meant so much in your life. The blue reminds me of the sky which your father obviously saw so many times throughout his life. You are a real blessing my dear friend. Whenever I see your name it puts a smile on my face. How I would love to meet you in person and share a cup of coffee or maybe even a bottle of wine (notice that I didn't say "glass" .
Dads have a very special place in their daughters' hearts!! It's clear that you had this kind of relaltionship as did I. I know you will cherish the memories throughout the rest of your life. Blessings my sweet friend ❤️❤️❤️ Lots of HUGS!!!

Thank you so much for all of your thoughts and kind words. Yes, I do follow very much in my father’s footsteps for his various likes- corny jokes included!
One of these days we absolutely will meet in person and share a bottle. Until then a very big toast and hug to you my friend.❤️😘🍪🍷
