Hi, @bobbiebakes, Again, links to the source art should be placed in the comments, where the link will hyperlink. Do not place the link in the caption field, as it does not hyperlink there. Also, the better credit here is "original art by . . .", as the bunny appears to be nearly a direct copy of the stamp image. "Inspired by" implies that you only borrowed a concept or technique, but not an entire image. Thank you.

Julia, I used my stamp for inspiration, however I did not stamp the cookie with it and I changed the appearance and colour. The only thing I did not change was actually outline of the image.

Julia, I used my stamp for inspiration, however I did not stamp the cookie with it and I changed the appearance and colour. The only thing I did not change was actually outline of the image.

Actually the art work from  that stamp is the work of Marina Fedotova.  

So if a  stamp is purchased than it is fine to use as an inspiration? 

Do American copy right laws apply to foreign artists?

It's fine to use anything as "inspiration" (which doesn't mean using an idea/drawing/whatever nearly in its entirety) or to directly copy it as long as you received permission from the source artist to use the art in the fashion you describe, or that work isn't already in the public domain (meaning its copyright has expired; see Posting Guidelines for details on this point). Bobbie said she got permission to use the stamp; I'm also assuming the company that made the stamp got permission to use Marina's art (which may mean the stamp company now holds a copyright on it too). This site is in the US and governed by US laws, thus anything you post here must follow our site rules.

And, as I told Bobbie in PM, if you bought a stamp or other tool for use on the actual cookie, as the tool is intended to be used, then it's nice to link back to the source, but not a requirement, since you essentially received permission to use it by buying the product. But, if you are going to reference the tool or image used, and that image was drawn on to a large degree in your piece, then please say "Original art from XXX" or "Used stamp from XXX", as it's a more accurate representation of what was done. "Inspired by", at least for purposes of this site, suggests you borrowed bits and pieces of something and then conceived of something rather new; "copying" relates to drawing on an image almost entirely.
