Has anyone ever run into legal licensing concerns when you create a cookie with another business logo on the cookie? For example I made cookies with the New England Patriots Football team logo. First off these were a gift and I did not profit so I am not concerned BUT for the future can I get into legal trouble or can anyone if you sell a cookie with another logo?? I have seen many people use sport team logos, Disney characters and so on. Thanks for your input.

Yes. I have been contacted by two different companies to cease selling cookies with their trade mark. These BIG companies have people that scan the internet all day looking for people infringing on trademarks. I think if you're giving them as a gift, you're ok. BUT, if you're trying to profit off of them, then it's the alternate story.
I stopped selling them. If I did not, they of course reserve the right to file suit.
Better safe than sorry...
Thank you for your response. And yes I am going to safe and not be sorry.
I tried to contact a college to ask permission to recreate their logo for some gifted cookies to a new graduate. They never replied (despite my contacting the individual in charge of "permissions"). I had wanted some wafer papers made of the logo and needed their written permission before the paper creator could produce them...so safe not sorry is a good way to go!
You brought up a good point, Debbie Hook! I have created logo cookies for several companies using their logo...and was granted permission from them directly> They each gave me permission of use of their copyright on their letterhead.
