please i need help, i tried making some RIT (royal icing transfers) of teddy bears and everything seemed ok and smooth until about 24 hours when i checked and i discovered several crack lines on each teddy bear. it was bad. i made them on acetate paper and used some shortening on it before piping and flooding, also i used leftover icing from 3 days earlier that was in the fridge. it was my first time making RIT.

Please what could have caused this?.

I always re-mix/whip any royal icing before using, then only make transfers on wax paper or parchment.  If my royal icing sits for any period of time, it kind of separates, so  I stir it up before I use it. Generally Royal Icing and crisco are not friends.

I have had cracking when I moved the sheet across the table during the drying process - and I've had cracking when I made a larger transfer - it needed 48 or more hours to dry completely.  Like others, I only have made them on parchment paper and wax paper.  Usually they come off easily.  Small ones pop right off - large ones I have to peel the paper back slowly, bit by bit.
