You may have heard this news back in January when I first announced it (here), but, if not, we've got a new Practice Bakes Perfect Challenge host as of today! Woo hoo!
Christine Dutcher, aka @Sweet Prodigy, has officially joined our team of contributors to build on our tradition of top-notch challenges in her own unique way! I couldn't be more thrilled to have her on board. Christine is not only a cookie talent extraordinaire (which goes without saying if you've seen her precision-piping work), but she's also got the knack for designing the perfect challenge - one that's not just creative and fun, but also crystal-clear in its every rule and objective. Her first challenge for you (our 39th challenge overall) is all of these things and more . . . but I don't want to steal her thunder, so I'll just refer you to her announcement of it here so can start brainstorming! With most of us locked down at home in the coming weeks, there's bound to be some solace found in dreaming up a special cookie entry.
But, before you go . . . If you don't know Christine already, I encourage you to check out her bio and social media links below (you'll be impressed), and to give her a big, warm welcome!
Christine Dutcher decided to search online for "amazing cupcake decorating" ideas when her daughter received a cupcake maker for Christmas 2012. That search led to some amazing cookie photos, and, like many cookiers, Christine instantly became obsessed. After spending countless hours online learning all that she could about decorated cookies, Christine decorated her first set in October 2013. For the first few years, Christine decorated cookies just for fun and only sporadically, however, in January 2016 she decided that she would begin to focus on perfecting her skills, challenging herself each time to create more detailed and progressively complex pieces. In 2019, Christine became one of the very first sugar artists from around the world (and the only "cookier") to be named as an "Honourary PME Five Star Sugar Artist" by Knightsbridge PME, with her work being featured in their Five Star Sugar Artist course book. It is through the Practice Bakes Perfect challenges that Christine hopes to motivate and inspire her fellow cookiers to think outside of the box, and to challenge themselves both creatively and technically in order to reach their full potential as cookie artists. You can learn more about her work here on Cookie Connection, and by following her Facebook and Instagram pages.
