Cupid Strikes (Cookie Celebration)

These vintage Valentine's used a combination (on all three cookies) of royal icing transfers, hand painting, lustre dusts (used both wet and dry), and wafer paper.  Third time must be a charm because in this entry I sort of fell in love with wafer paper!! It's true.  The first couple of tries the paper worked and even enhanced the design, but in this case, using it abstractly "shot me in the heart!"  I had leftover angels from my first project (pictured below) and didn't want to make 18 cookies using the same picture.  Being a person who doesn't like to waste anything, I thought, how can I repurpose this wafer paper.  Hole puncher!!  Wha Laa!  I took the image, hole punched it and instead of an image I now had tiny dots with color and pattern.  This was fun and I can't wait to try out wafer paper again!!  Go figure!

Awesome!  The punched wafer paper was genius! And this might sound a bit off... ahem... but what are the shafts of those quivers made of?

Thank you Christine!  I had so much fun with this set.  I can imagine using this idea on fish, mermaid tales, dresses....this challenge has created a Cookie Monster!! Ha, ha!  I tried three different items for the shafts.  I used a cookie stick, a flat coffee stirrer, and a toothpick.  All cut in half and inserted and I colored the coffee stirrer and cookie stick to tone down the original colors.  

And can you imagine what you can do with wafer paper if you have some of the "fancier" punchers that are out there?? OMG the creativity could be off the charts! I've seen so many different hole punchers out there...I MUST make a trip to my local craft store - TODAY!!

These are gorgeous!  They look like they have been discovered in a long lost trunk full of laces, pearls, and graciously aged jewelry.  I love them!

These are so beautiful...amazingly creative and I just love your approach to using your materials on hand. Isn't it amazing how many leftovers we have after decorating a set or an order for a customer? I sit and look at the leftovers and wonder how in the world can I possibly use these again since they were so specific to the order...but you gave me an idea from which to build. Thank you

Thank you Carol, that is so nice of you to say.  I am so glad I've inspired you...it doesn't get better than that!!!  I'm such a reused of things that my family makes fun of me because I hardly let them throw ANYTHING out because I'll either donate it or repurpose it!  Have fun and cannot wait to see what you do!
