Voila, my vintage girls dresses cookie set!

All set was created by using left-over cookie dough and left-over icing. I had exactly five dress cookies to work on and I wasted some of my left-over icing while experimenting on "muted colours".

I committed myself to finish the decorating on  Sunday as I have a workshop this week and two big cookie projects to finish by the end of the month.

So limited resources and limited time were my real challenges.

I had to prepare my green icing from the blue one when I was finished with it and made the orange icing by mixing yellow and ivory as I had no more icing to colour from scratch.

I smashed the half-dry icing several times and needed to cover those parts with patches of icing. Don't have a close look on cookies please!

What's more... It was my first time to pipe ruffles. Because of limited icing I had, I couldn't practise enough and I didn't have another cookie to make a new one. To be honest, I didn't like my ruffles! Therefore, the orange one is my least favourite. If the challenge wasn't for five cookies, I would have taken it out from the set. I put it in the middle to take picture as it's said "if you want to hide something, put it out in the open where everyone can see it". Hope that works!

Why vintage girls dresses? Recently, I was working on a baby shower set and I had this new dress cutter. But dress cutter didn't match with the rest of set and I left it out. Then I thought, let's use it for the challenge! I cut out five dress cookies from the dough what was left over. And that's how my challenge started!

I searched pinterest and internet a  lot about vintage girls dresses. I found great designs. I especially liked the use of frills, colars, aprons and lace.

I used ivory instead of white and tried to achieve muted colours by adding a little bit of brown to the colours.

My set wouldn't be completed without a burgundy velvet skirt so I made one. I tried to use stippling technique to give a more velvety texture look. As I was rushing to finish everything on Sunday, I didn't wait long enough for cookie to completely dry and my stippling effect turned out to be a real mess rather than a velvety texture. Not quite like I planned but I liked it at the end.

As a final note, I used vintage style dresses and muted colours for my challenge set. I was thinking of aging the sides of the cookies with brown dust but I really loved my cute dresses and I didn't want to ruin everything at the end, considering what I have been through this challenge. I MAY try to age the cookies later on this week. Not quite sure, anyhow will see!

Looking forward to reading your comments. Thanks and love...

If you use brown to age the cookies, definitely post another picture here in these comments so we can see!

These are some of the best "leftover" cookies I have ever seen lol! I think you completely nailed the vintage style.  As a Pinterest junkie myself, I think it was a great idea to use Pinterest to do research into vintage styles. This is a beautiful addition to the challenge!

Thanks a lot  Christine. I'll try to age cookies and post the picture here.

I have two boys and shopping clothes for them is not a fun. Thus, making girls dresses was such a joy for me. Thanks ❤️
