As a hobby baker I make cakes for my family for years now. I learned a lot and made a lot of progress, so I'm very proud of my cakes. Over the time I made a lot of other treats (cakesicles, cakepops f.e.) because I realized that kids would prefer them at birthday parties or school events and everything came out like I wished. So I also tried cookies with Royal Icing and the first cookies came out not perfect but really good so I thought this is a base to start on.
Really fast I learned that Royal Icing is very tricky. I thought I always use the same recipe but sometimes I have perfect cookies in the end and sometimes the result is a big mess. Several times I had to restart and scratch of the whole icing. It can be frustrating because it is time consuming and from my cakes I'm used to make progress so normaly every result should be a little bit better than the last. But unfortunately this is not always the fact with my RI. Too hard, too soft, not drying at all, color bleeding, little spots and bumbs, I think I made every mistake you can make.
I found this forum and read some really interessting posts, so I would like to learn from these wonderful bakers here. Thank you for sharing your knowledge 💙
