I am not a cook or baker, but for some reason, I got it in my head to try to make Springerle (German) or Anisbrotle (Swiss) cookies. It took me over two years to finally learn everything I needed to know to bake them correctly. So, I bake Anisbrötle cookies thanks to a friend who taught me how and gave me a great recipe. Ironically, 50% of my friends do not like the taste of anis, so I substitute flavored oils: lemon, cinnamon, almond, vanilla, etc.
