I am a full time educator and a part-time baker from Texas but currently working/living in the United Arab Emirates.
I was trained by my self-trained mother who passed away 2 years ago. I feel close to her when I bake but my husband does not eat sweets. I started baking and giving away my creations. Next thing I know I have a thriving side business. The business is called Mom's Famous Cakes in her memory. My mother was totally against using fondant because she did not like the taste of texture so I only work in buttercream.
I have been repeatedly asked to offer cookies. I think my mother would approve of working with royal icing but neither of us have any experience working with it. I ran across Julia Usher's videos and she has absolutely inspired me. I hope my mother will be guiding my hand.
