Fondant animals on cookies: I learned how to handle fondant from @Kim Damon.
Since Kim makes animals on cookies, I decided to make animals, too. Since 2018 is Year of the Dog, these are Daddy dog, Mommy dog and their puppies. In addition to that, I tried to use icing as little as possible for this project.
Thanks to Kim, I got a chance to use fondant on cookies. To tell the truth, I wanted to make mischievous puppies but they came out very well-behaved ones. Well, nothing is easy for the first time.
The mats where puppies are on are made with colored fondant and @SugarVeil Icing mat. I have heard from @Manu biscotti decorati, SugarVeil’s mats can be used for fondant, too. So I tried this to emboss the design.
Again, thank you, Kim, I was afraid that nobody was going to do this challenge together with me.
Wow, wow, wow! Ryoko ~Cookie Ave, you rocked this challange! Your cookies are so fun and totally adorable! And you even mixed colors on your mats! Such a fun set! It's hard to imagine this was your first try at fondant!! Thanks for the cookie swap (it was really a treat)!

It took long time for me to make those dogs, I kneaded them again and again, then the fondant got dry.
There is a way to make it soft again with a tiny bit of butter or crisco. I imagine that was pretty frustrating. Could be old (in the store to long) or too much Tylos powder (if you used that)? But you would never know there was a struggle by how cute they turned out!

Oh butter!, thank you, Kim. This is really something new to me.
What a cute set Ryoko! And yes they remind me Kim’s cookie style!
Something new to me, isn't it? While I was making them, I was just wondering "Why?" and "How?" but now I think it was fun. Those puppies make me smile.
Oh my goodness! These puppies are ADORABLE!!! I can't believe this is the first time you have used fondant! @Kim Damon must be one fabulous teacher! I love how each puppy has it's own little personality, and the use of the textured fondant bases are a terrific addition. Most of all, I am so glad that you and Kim got to connect and collaborate! Clearly, it was a fruitful cookie connection!
