I wanted my cookie to tell a story. Here is my interpretation of "The Tribute in Light." Below are the stencil and mediums I used for this Challenge.
Scene: NYC, 9/11
Stencils:
1.) Statue of Liberty
2.) Home made waves and clouds
3.) Starburst Stencil (to create towers)
4.) City Skyline Stencil
Technique:
1.) "Transfers Made with a Stencil" - Royal Icing Transfer for Statue of Liberty (airbrushed stencil onto parchment paper. Used thick consistency icing to outline transfer and give it volume for a 2d effect. (I learned 2d technique from Marta Torres @ CookieLab). I made this first so that it would have time to dry while I created the city and adhered it last.
2.) "Stenciling with an Airbrush" - I airbrushed waves and clouds (learned from Emma's Sweets tutorial) with my home made stencils. I just learned to properly airbrush this past weekend when I attended a class by Shannon from Artfully Designed Creations.
3.) "Stenciling with Sponges/Luster Dust" - I used the starburst stencil to create the towers by combining these two mediums. I used a sponge to adhere the silver luster dust that was diluted with alcohol. I then placed silver star sprinkles onto the towers. Please let me know if the star sprinkles is allowed as my one source of medium. They are not glued on yet so I can always wipe them off lol.
4.) "Stenciling w Royal Icing" - Lastly, I used black icing to create the city. I used gold luster dust to create the lights.
Brilliant! What an amazing addition to the challenge! From the execution, to the message, this is an incredible cookie! And I really like how many different stenciling techniques you were able to utilize. Really well done!

Thank you so much! I was terrible at airbrushing, but I took a class two weeks ago from Shannon @ Artfully Designed Creations and I learned sooooo much technique from her! I almost skipped out on this challenge, but saw an opportunity to take her class. I'm so glad I have it a shot!
Thank you so much for giving us this cookie, and for showing your techniques Arlene - You have obviously thought about this in great detail before starting and I love how you have used your knowledge gained from your classes with others. Your photos of the cookie in situ are inspiring. X
