Practice Bakes Perfect Challange #20 was such an exciting challange. I took two sets and redid my favorite cookies from both. In the Christmas tree set (last year) I experimented with many different techneces to try and find one I liked (with varying success). This year I tried a snowy approach and tried to layer from the bottom row up to see if I could get a snow on the branches look and then went back in with dark green to make the inside of the branches. The same mold was used for the birds. With the holly leaves I tried a darker look and went a bit more realistic. I accidentally used the blue-green (that I never use!) and I was rather happy with how it turned out. I added the small plaque cookies (I won the cutters in PBP challange #18) and used one of my new stencils from @Julia M. Usher and painted over top and added birds, branches and pine cones and candy berries to the scene. I also added painted details to all the little birds to make them look more lifelike. Thank you Christine @ Bakerloo Station for yet another wonderful challange! <3

Kim, this is a fabulous set! Love all the bright color with the yellow background and vibrant green and red...just gorgeous

Hehe must be a screen thing. I didn't use any yellow in these. The background is white. But I'm so glad you like the set, Carol! <3 Just picture red, white and green.

I love the melding of the two original themes!  You have created such a beautiful winter scene.  Please, tell me, did you use the same techniques on both sets to create the cardinals?  And, I really like how to aded the stenciling techniques to the revised version.  They really add some great depth to the cardinal plaques.  Well done!

Thank you, Christine! I used red fondant in the same mold for both sets, but I used candies (held in place with RI) for eyes on the second set and painted details (using colored RI) as an improvement on the re-do set as well. I had in mind the background for wildlife when I bought Julia's stencil. It's really one of my favorite forest elements.  I think one thing I'm learning is that every element you add gives dimension.  Thanks for your encouraging words.
