I cut the house shape with a template I drew. The roof was first outlined and filled with black royal icing and then later I brushed embroidered following the piped dots technique. The walls were first flooded with royal icing and then I brush embroidered it. I piped a line and brushed it. Sticking to the theme of brush embroidery, I dipped the paintbrush in green royal icing and dabbed it on the cookie to depict foliage and flowers.

What I learned was, in the past I would draw a line and brush it in. However, for the roof I used the piped dots technique used by @Ewa Kiszowara MOJE PIERNIKI and I just liked it so much. The difficulty I had was that when I piped and brush embroidered the pattern looked very distinct however, as it dried, it would merge. I hope I am enlightened on what I seem to do wrong. I made my royal icing with meringue powder, and I just wonder if using egg whites would make a difference.

I enjoyed myself doing this project thinking of a different way to use the brush embroidery technique.

How lovely, Zeena! I like the different directions you gave your brushing to make the difference between tiles and bricks. The greenery looks great! Perhaps you could try with a thicker consistency for the tiles, it may do the works. Well done!🥰

Thank you.

Great idea for use brush embroidery as part of the house texture!! You did a great job @Zeena!! Looks like you really learned a lot about what you can do with brush embroidery when making this cookie. That's always what I'm looking for, too. I love to learn new tricks and techniques ❤️

Clever application of brush embroidery! Well done!

Regarding the merging of your icing, it's likely because the consistency was too loose. Try thickening it more, and it will dry faster, resulting in more distinction between areas.

Thank you Julia. I appreciate your great feedback. It's truly a learning experience.

Thank you Heather

I like that you used a different technique for each part. The way you staggered your bricks really helps to add to the realism. And I know your roof does not look as you intended, but I think that the merged icing actually helps create a shingled or tiled effect. This is a wonderful design with some of creative thinking.
