How exciting to be able to go to New York City each year for 25 years in a row!! And what's better than that? Going to the U.S. Open in New York . I went to Flushing Meadow with 3 of my tennis friends on that first year. Such a wonderful memory!! Hard to believe it was 25 years ago now.

Some important credits must be given whenever they are deserved as is certainly the case with this set of cookies . I had totally spaced the fact that it was @Manu biscotti decorati who had used the SugarVeil lace to create the perfect grid for the racket stringing as well as creating a believable net on the court as you can see in the following tutorial: https://cookieconnection.julia...a-cookie-box-for-dad. Manu shows 2 tennis rackets using the grid lace pattern at the very bottom of this great tutorial! And it was Julia's wonderful memory who helped turn on the light bulb in my head and reminded me about Manu's tutorial! Thank you so very much @Julia M. Usher!! Manu's tutorial is fabulous for creating 3D projects with cut out lettering too ❤️.

I had made a set of cookies for another tennis friend in 2014 when I had first started decorating cookies. I had started watching Julia's tutorials and was enthralled with the idea of 3D cookies . I used a bulky cookie to create a "standing up net" on the tennis court cookie and stenciled a grid pattern onto the bulky cookie to simulate a net.  When I created the tennis court for the 25th anniversary. I wanted to make a 3D tennis court and was pretty confident that I could improve on the 2014 version 3-D Tennis Court

Great set, Carol. Thanks for the extensive credits in the comments. I also put a credit to @Manu biscotti decorati for the tennis racket design in the caption under the photo, where it's more likely to be seen - especially if shared in social media.

Very nice work. You have definitely improved over the years.  I especially like your tennis ball cookies.

Thank you Christine! You're so kind to comment. Glad you like the tennis ball cookies...I really did try to come up with something a little bit more unique than what you usually see. Tennis balls are fuzzy so it made sense to add a texture to create that effect. In 2014 set of tennis cookies I had made some tennis ball and racket cookies. I did refer to that set quite a bit when making this one. Tennis Themed Valentines CookiesHope you are smiling as you look at this. LOL ❤️

Beautiful set in my favorite colors, and so meaningful for you and your friends, Carol @Cookies Fantastique!

Thank you for the mention! I purchased the needlepoint mat at the beginning of 2017 to participate to the challenge “Lace”. (The racket and the tennis court were part of an idea for a variation of the minimalist cookie box DAD. The needlepoint grid was just perfect for the racket strings and the tennis court net cookies. At that time all the tennis racket cookies I saw online had the strings hand piped. The needlepoint mat came to the market just the year before and it had been mainly used by @Julia M. Usher (who co-designed it) in her 3-D cookie projects.) At first I made a copy of my own tennis racket. I especially liked the idea to paint the (SugarVeil needlepoint) strings, only realizing that I couldn’t post it, due to the copyright restrictions  (I ‘ve never got a response to my request of permission). But I wanted anyway to use the needlepoint for the strings and so I made my ombré strings instead.  All the info on how I made the strings and the court in the comments to this post here.

Thank you so much for all of this background info @Manu biscotti decorati! I didn't realize all the backstory and so appreciate knowing more from you and your experiences. The grid mat is wonderful for SO many projects!! I absolutely love it because my piping couldn't come close to the perfection of that grid . My hubby had made the tennis racket cookie cutter on his 3D machine. I had requested that the ball be set aside on top of the racket to the right to create something more original. I purposely left off any kind of initials (such as W for "Wilson", Puma logo, etc.) because of the copyright issue. I really wanted to add it for the sake of realism but could not obtain permission (didn't even get a response to my inquiry). I thought it would be ok to move forward with the design in the basic way I had done it in 2014.

My intent in making this set was to work from my 2014 set of tennis cookies to see how I could improve on it. I was happy with the outcome and think that the work is definitely better which made me happy .

By the way, Your DAD 3D cookie box has to be one of my very favorites of your tutorials ❤️. The work is perfection and so original with the lettering for DAD!! You also chose the best shade of green for it!!

Thank  you once again for your kind comments. Your words mean so very much to me ❤️❤️❤️
