My piece is a hand cut, hand textured cookie with cut out windows, poured isomalt, gold accents and layers of spun sugar “threads” to create a woven fabric look. I also used some pulled sugar technique for the tassels. I was inspired by Chihuly’s Early Fused Glass Weaving, from 1965 because it was the piece he made right before he began glass blowing. For my piece, the spun sugar was a beautiful accident that achieved exactly the look I wanted.
This is absolutely lovely please wish Dale Chihuly a happy 75th birthday for me Dale I'm sure will be extremely impressed with your mimicking his art in a cookie enjoy the celebration

Thank you! I'd say 4-6 hours broken into 2 days. It was an uniced cookie, painted with gold rolkem for the base. A lot of it was just "see what happens", especially with the spun sugar. I'm a sculptor in my non-sugar life so I jumped at the chance to do a Chihuly inspired piece.

I knew this wasn't a 15 minute cookie! It definitely looks like you put a lot of time into it. "See what happens cookies" are the best sometimes. I love the spun sugar effect and the gold and blue look great together!

Thank you so much. I'm not sure I've ever done a cookie that took me less than 30-60 min. I'll never be a millionaire making cookies. Most of my stuff is too weird to sell.

I can certainly relate to the time aspect. I love your cookies. It shows that you have a fine arts background!
