I received an order for some church related cookies. After the order was filled I had a bit of a break and wanted to try some ideas for making cross cookies. I embossed one of the cookies prior to baking and dabbed some light gold luster dust extended with alcohol to achieve a hint of gold in the raised parts of the embossed cookie. With some darker brown dust I added some shading in the center and then airbrushed in strategic areas to achieve shading. The middle cross was made using a current technique that I've been seeing frequently these days. I flooded the cookie, scrunched up some parchment paper and placed it over the wet flood. I let it dry overnight and voila...texture! I love this look . I airbrushed a rose gold shimmer color to give it some shine and shading...I also spattered liquid gold dust for highlights. The third cross was really a fun idea...fragile, yes, but I like the end result. I cut out the cross shaped cookie and removed all but a border around the cross. I flooded it with RI for stability and then airbrushed brown tones to give the cookie some shading. I wanted to try and stabilize the cookie a little more by adding a fondant applique with "Peace" written on it. Since I was in a "gold frame of mind" LOL, I dabbed on some gold highlights.
Sometimes cookie order after cookie order causes me to feel more like I'm working in a production kitchen factory . Breaking it up with fun things like this and the recent challenge project I posted brings the FUN back into the decorating process. I started decorating cookies as a way to share my passion for cookie art. I never want to forget the FUN part of decorating cookies .
I love all three cookie designs but the third on caught my eye right away. I know it's a fragile cookie, but it acts as a nice contrast, and the three cookies together just seem to make the perfect set.

Thank you so much Christine @Sweet Prodigy!! The open cross cookie is definitely NOT something I would even consider shipping. LOL But, I love the look of it...so different than any cross I've seen before. I really appreciate your kind words ❤️ Hugs...
