It's been forever since I've posted in here, let alone entered a challenge, but I promised myself in 2024 to participate more and try new things. I LOVE Carmen Urbano's designs and knew I had to participate. This is a franken-cookie (a winter sweater, a cookie pan, and a small rectangle). I've wanted to use the baking/cookie pan cutter since purchasing at CookieCon, so this was my chance. It's a sugar cookie base with fonndant for the sweater & mitts, modeling chocolate for the skirt (I embossed a tweed pattern to the skirt but it doesn't show up well in the photo). I painted the baking/cookie pan with silver luster dust to achieve a metallic look, and used wafer paper to simulate baking parchment. The apron is a small piece of an icing sheet, and I trimmed it with my first attempt using Sugar Veil for the lace and I am hooked! Can't wait to try more things with it. The cookies caramel I softened and shaped and dotted with an edible pen. The sugar pearl necklace was a challenge. Applying them singularly with tweezers, trying not to get too much icing on them to make them stick, but enough to adhere there was a joy. I had a lot of fun creating this "art imitates life" piece. How fun, Kelly, and what a thoughtful application of the right mediums in the right spots! One of the things that @Inspirations by Carmen Urbano emphasized in her challenge demo was the importance of purposeful selection of elements/materials, and you nailed that!
Is this your first challenge? In any event, I applaud you for jumping in with such energy in 2024. I can't wait to see what you do in our next challenge - it's also proving to be quite special, and I am really looking forward to @Manu biscotti decorati's unveiling of it in a couple of weeks.
