Here's something quite different from the typical birthday cookie request!!! What to do when asked to make space-related birthday cookies? Time to start looking around at kids' space toys which is the inspiration for the astronaut and rocket cookies . Of course I didn't have an astronaut cutter on hand so I made one that seems to have worked pretty well .

Thanks to SweetAmbs tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xf1A8q2UA0 I had some ideas of ways to go about creating galaxy related cookies by using wet-on-wet and marbling techniques. Amber's galaxy cookies are really pretty and so creative!! I hope you'll take a look at her tutorial .

It was fun to do some shading with the airbrush to create a lighter effect around the rocket and I really enjoyed getting out the paintbrush to create the circular effects for the Saturn and Neptune planets. These were fun and also challenging given the theme for the party .
